Fine full leather binding with gilt ruling and flora on front and rear boards, spine with five raised bands, gilt titles on green label and gilt dentelles, doublures and all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Appears to have been professionally rebacked, some light rubbing to edges of rear board, and some small marks to front board but otherwise in Fine condition. Previous owners inscription on half title page (no title present) to Lucy C. Jackson from her husband dated 1849, unknown if this is related to the author. First edition, pp iv, plates unpaginated but illustrations individually numbered, all illustrations are hand coloured apart from 158 in the appendix which are presumably too small to colour, indices in Latin & English. Very Scarce title.
