Original full leather binding with six raised bands to spine, tooling to leather boards, title label missing from spine but indentation present "Pitsgo History", 7cm piece missing from base of spine to after the first raised band, head of spine rubbed and chipped, front and rear hinges split 13cm down at front and 5cm to rear (see photographs), corners and edges rubbed and bumped, rough cut pages, some with small tears and finger marks throughout but otherwise in Very Good condition commensurate with age. First edition, pp xviii, 239. Previous owners names written in contemporary hand on the first 3 pages including: Sir William Dunbar of Durn, a Jacobite soldier who served as a volunteer under Lord Pitsligo and took part in the Battles of Falkirk Muir and Prestonpans. The first history of Scotland to be composed in Scots rather than Latin
